"We are very keen to develop the skills of my leadership team, and so we took all twenty of them away from the office for
3 days, to work on their mindset, skills, and ability to perform under pressure. I asked David to prepare and facilitate the sessions.
That first off site was very successful. David started from basic understanding of neuro-science and evolutionary psychology, and how it applies to us and our interactions; then worked through to our business context and some bespoke examples that fit the participants and what we’ll face in the next 12-18 months. We were very pleased that David doesn’t use the “tick the box” approach to management and people development, and tailored the content and learning for both Blackbaud and the individuals involved. His style is very engaging - it manages the difficult trick of deliberately taking people out of their comfort zone but always in a controlled and positive way. In between the sessions, David had short 1on1s with each team member. The fact that he’s been in my shoes before and those of the participants gave real credibility and authority to his questions and suggestions.

Because my team had enjoyed and progressed so well as a result of the session, we organised two more, focussing on more advanced managerial issues, such as Stress Management, and Performing under Pressure, using scenarios and role plays based on real Blackbaud situations."
